Lipid Prevention Programs
"Improving the quality of patient care & health outcomes through research & education."
The goal of the Primary Prevention Lipid Clinic (PPLC) is to improve the quality of care provided to Kelsey-Seybold patients with diabetes and dyslipidemia, without any history of cardiovascular disease. Patients meeting these criteria are enrolled in the PPLC and lipids are aggressively managed by following the NCEP ATP III (National Cholesterol Education Program) target levels. The PPLC ensures that KSC patients with diabetes, dyslipidemia, and other cardiovascular disease risk factors receive the highest quality health services available.
The goals of the Secondary Prevention Lipid Clinic (SPLC) are to identify coronary artery disease patients with elevated LDL cholesterol and place patients in an intensive education and therapeutic program to decrease recurrent cardiovascular events. KRF assists both lipid programs by providing computer assistance, data management, and analyses of outcomes data.
