Data Management Center
"Improving the quality of patient care & health outcomes through
research & education."
To manage patient care effectively and efficiently, clinicians
and administrators need in-depth information about the quality of care and
health outcomes of patients at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. Utilizing the KSC patient
population (approximately 400,000 patients per year), the Foundation monitors
and reports the outcomes of KSC disease-state management programs and health
maintenance activities. The Foundation:
Designs and
maintains databases for specific high-risk diseases such as cancer, congestive
heart failure, diabetes, end-stage renal disease, osteoporosis, and conditions
such as high cholesterol.
Maintains a
database of clinical information about the pregnancy experience of over 10,000
women at The Womanís Hospital of Texas and the KSC Obstetrics Department.
Provides physicians
at KSC with monthly reports of critical diagnostic studies (e.g., creatinine,
HgA1c, microalbumuria, LDL cholesterol, PSA values,
and blood sugar).
Designed and
maintains a database to track which diabetic patients receive patient
education. Furnishes data for physician credentialing and Board
Certifications.
Conducts medical
literature searches for Kelsey-Seybold Clinic physicians and assists them in
preparing slides, presentations, and research proposals.
Assists
Kelsey-Seybold Clinic physicians in identifying clinical trials and support
for outcomes research studies.
