Joe & Jessie Crump Cancer Center
"Improving the quality of patient care & health outcomes through research & education."

Established in 1983, the mission of the Joe and Jessie Crump Cancer Center, a joint program of the Kelsey Research Foundation (KRF) and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic (KSC), is to improve the quality of cancer care and health outcomes of patients with cancer at KSC. The Crump Cancer Center, which includes the Breast Diagnostic Center and Infusion Center, has a three-year approval with multiple commendations for its achievements in treatment, research and supportive care service efforts by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC). The Crump Cancer Center is the only freestanding CoC-Approved Cancer Program in the United States. The Crump Cancer Center continues to develop and maintain integrated programs in cancer education, prevention, patient care, and research. These programs assure that patients and family members receive the highest quality health services available and provide clinicians with up-to-date information and research findings to prevent and treat this multifaceted disease. Since 1986, the Crump Cancer Center has maintained an accurate registry of all cancer patients (approximately 10,000 cases) in the KSC system and affiliated hospitals. The registry reports the incidence and prevalence of cancer cases at KSC and affiliated hospitals, documents all medical care rendered for those patients, and reports this data to the Texas Department of Health State Cancer Registry and the National Cancer Database. The program also provides cancer patients with up-to-date educational materials (pamphlets, books, videos) about cancer and its treatment and information on community resources to help patients and their family members. The Foundation publishes an annual report of the cancer programís initiatives and research activities.
